Music Terminology of the Week #12 120qrzr

Every week I will add a word or term commonly used in music. This will teach those who cannot read sheet music something new and we can all share our knowledge.

Whole Note

-Equal to four beats in 4/4 time.
-Everywhere in the world except for America, it is known as a semibreve.
-It derives from the semibrevis of mensural notation.
-The American name is a loan translation of the German Ganze Note.
