Flight of the Fairies

I flew around in Lamplight forest. I really needed to make a new leaf dress. I think people were saying that there were roses in the middle of the dark forest. Nobody ever goes there because there are dark fairies there. You really don't want to go there, but I really wanted the roses! I also heard that they were green. I will find someone to go with me just in case.

I looked at Amber curiously, then bolted off to catch up with her.

"For whatever reason would we have to hide? I was just fine flying through the forest by myself...wait...are you really just delivering to him that the first day of collecting is going well? Or, do you have some super secret information? Something that someone might want from you?"

I turned to face the princess. Clearly she had not been outside of the forest. "There are dangerous things beyond the meadow." I said. I reached down to my ankle and took off the leaf anklet I always wore. "This was caused by a magpie!" I said, pointing to a gruesome looking scar. "That's just the animals! There's also weather, that is dangerous! I've been bedridden for weeks because I was caught in a rainstorm, several times! However none of this is half as scary as the giants!" I said, stretching my arms so i was at least an inch taller, maybe even 2 inches. They are the scariest!

"Giants?" I asked, "I've never seen a giant before. How tall are they? Taller than the trees, just below, right at? What an adventure this could turn out to be!"

I spoke bravely, but there was an underlying tone of fear in my voice.

As I flew i overheard 2 faires speaking about giants. " Well, giants aren't as bad as dark fairies. Dark fairies use dark magic to to very bad things. They are quite scary." I said. " But now, I have to go into the, the, the dark forest to get a green rose petal for my new dress dye that i'm making."

I could sense the fear in her voice, athough she was doing a pretty good job of hiding it. I'm used to this sort of thing. I'm a well travelled fairy, considering my size! "The giants are... HUGE! Some are smaller, some are bigger, they look just like fairies only without wings!" I said. If ever they saw us, they could catch us and use us as workers. I hear bees are used by them for the honey. I once saw a giant who was 6 feet tall! THAT'S LIKE... 24 of me piled up!"

"Wow! Giants...I kind of hope we see one. Not interact with it or anything...but just see it..."

I looked down at Honeysuckle. "Is it safe to have this inchworm with me? For by the worm, and for myself."

I nodded. "So long as you do what I say, the both of you will be fine!" I said. We set off for the next villiage

We flew off to parts of the forest that I had never seen before...

"You know," I said, "Father probably wouldn't approve. I could be Queen someday, you see. So don't tell him I went on this little journey with you."

I was busy at work. With everything coming up. Everything is busy busy busy busy! Especially the messenger fairies! My tree office is quite occupied right now. My wings are sore but I must keep working. July was always crazy. Fairies coming and going. Some making new leaf dresses and messenger fairies traveling. Oh no! I've been so busy that I haven't even paying attention to my daughter! I'm pretty sure she's fine.. She can take care of herself, as long as she doesn't leave the forest. Giants and dark fairies always loved to ruin summer fairies festivals and if they knew the future fairy queen was in the dark forest..
"Oh don't worry." I told myself. "Everything will be fine."

Whilst I told Amber not to tell me father of this little adventure, I thought of what he'd do if he knew what danger I was putting myself in. Amber very clearly illustrated what could be awaiting us...

"He's probably is too busy to even think of me," I thought to myself.

I waited for Amber's acknowledgement.

"Are you crazy?! He loves you to bits and pieces! If he finds out I let you come with me, I'm out of a job, out of a home, out of my hometown! If anything happens to you... I'm gonna pay for it!" I said. "Your dad is probably thinking about you RIGHT NOW!"

((I didn't say the bit about him not thinking about me. I thought it. What can Amber do, read minds? Lol.))

I shrugged, and flew onward. "Where are we headed?" I asked. "How far away is it?"

"Well the nearest is Peach Avenue. It's pretty small but it's under a peach tree, hence the name. It's not too far, about a mile?" I started to fly a little slower. Something was coming!

I head a rumbling that shook the trees around us. I couldn't pinpoint its origin; it was too immense!

"Do we hide?" I asked Amber, thinking quickly.

I looked around for a safe place. Then my eyes fell on a muddy ditch. "There!" I said, pushing Aura forwards. She protested that it was filty but I looked at her with a look that said. 'Remember the rule?!'

((It's not really in my character to protest that. I'd be too shy to contradict. Maybe, I'd pause out of fear, but not complain about it.))

I dove into the mud and lied still. The rumbling continued.
Amber flew in beside me and waited quietly. I followed by example.

((oops sorry again ))

I watched as two large sneakers appeared. This is a big giant! They picked up a large red ball which was sat at the base of a tree. They then walked away. We were safe for now.

As I was flying through the forest I came up on Peach Avenue. I saw the dress shop. I would need to go there after my journey to have them turn the petal into dye. As I flew closer to the Avenue I saw one of the petals from the rose. I flew down to grab it and when I was flying towards the dress shop it started raining. I was so close to the platform when The rain hit me really hard and I fell all the way down to the floor. As I was falling I was two fairies. I recognized one as the princess! Then, BOOM. I had taken a really hard hit to the mud ditch.

We flew ahead on to Peach Avenue. The princess looked around while I went to the messenger office. Only the messenger fairy was allowed to enter this place. I turned on the loudspeaker and called for the attention of all fairies in Peach Avenue.

I sent Amber a message to send to the other fairies tribes. I wonder if they got it yet. The fairies festivals had to perfect, they just had to. Anything to mess it up then everything would be ruined.

I turned toward the fairy that had fell in the mud. "What's your name? You may join us, if you'd like!"

I pulled out my wand and magicked the muddy fairy clean. "That's better!" I said. "I'm Amber!"
