This tutorial will basically teach you how to make curved lines, I'm not teaching you anything in particular, but this is the gateway into making more advanced things using the pen tool. This tutorial can be used on any program as long as you have the pen tool.

1. Switch to the pen tool and start a new work path by simply just clicking on your image canvas.

2. From the work path, make a line and hold down, don't let go and now move your mouse either to the right or left... which ever direction you want the curve to go. YOUR MOUSE MUST BE HELD DOWN DURING THOSE WHOLE ENTIRE PROCESS.

Now you're finished! You can make swirls, etc now that you know how to curve. If you have the "Convert Point Tool" - this feature is only in Photoshop - you can convert a point to a curve if you are still having trouble or if that way is just easier for you.
