OMG! This is such a coincidence; I am reading this in my Reading/LAL class too! It's really nice yet sad. We're up to chapter 15! I wonder if Ellen and her family will be ok! Thanks for sharing!

I really enjoyed this book. It gives a very good account of what happened during the holocaust and how families were effected.

Re: Number The Stars
I haven't read it, but some of my friends have. In grade five, everyone was split into groups having to read different books. One of them was Number the Stars. It seemed like a good book and still does. Maybe I'll read it myself some day...

Re: Number The Stars
No, I have not read Number the Stars by Lois Lowry, but have heard it is a very good book. Ironically, I am reading The Giver by the same author in my Language Arts Class. Lowry is a very creative author who ties in things that many authors don't. She uses a lot of historical allusions and focuses largely on Utopian and Distopian societies. Number the Stars seems to look like it takes part during the Holocaust. I am sure Lois Lowery will include a whole lot of feelings. I should surely read it one day along Gathering Blue which my brother said was really good. Thank you Clay for posting this! =]

I think I read this book back in about third grade? At first I really didn't want to read it but I read it anyways for school and ended up really liking it. I love Lois Lowry and the book was very informative about the Holocaust.
