what do these computer terms mean?

every time I get on BGF, my computer starts running slow. I told my friend about it and she said ANSI and ASCII. I have no idea what that means.
Can anyone tell me what it means?

I take computer classes at my school I know what it means.

ANSI means American National Standards Instutute
ASCII means American Stardard Code Information Interchange
