Celebrities on a red carpet?

Why do you think Celelbrities walk on a red carpet? Why that color? Why not... green or whatever?

i guess red means that you are celebrities i heard of a green carpet for something big one time

Red represents achievement. Seniors and retired persons in Japan earn the right to wear red jackets. It symbolizes the fact that they are still full of life. Likewise, celebrities want to accentuate their achievements and draw attention to themselves. Like a bullfighter's red cape, the colour of the material draws our attention to the centre of the action....I was really interested in that so I actually googled for an answer and that is what I came up with. I think it is actually interesting.

Yeah red is a color that is bold so it usually draws attention. That is one reason why I don't want a red car because it will draw the attention of cops =P I actually read in a study somewhere that red cars are twice as likely to get pulled over than any other color car.

Red is just special. It sybolizes what aries said and it is famous.

For the IIFA awards for Bollywood they walked on a green carpet.

Indeed. It's very classic. We've all accepted the red carpet as a sign of achievement as it is.
