Jobs?
What do you wanna be when you grow up, or what is your job right now ?
I want to be a veterinarian.

Re: Jobs?
I was better at giving a serious answer to that when I was six. Now, I want to be a werewolf. Or maybe a dragon.

Re: Jobs?
Dragons are cooler. They can just fly away without having to rely on a broom.

Re: Jobs?
Yeah, but that's only about arriving at the destination. Nothing like feeling the wind in your wings.

Re: Jobs?
A broom still isn't the same as wings, and dragons are fireproof. Wizards are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.

Re: Jobs?
Dragons...I'm not even going to joke about that, I'm a vegan.
My decision stands. I'm to be a wizard when I grow up.

Re: Jobs?
All right, then. And when I'm a dragon, I won't eat you -- that was really just from an old line; "Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup."

Re: Jobs?
Well, it's a takeoff on a JRR Tolken quote, "Do not meddle in the affairs of wizards, for they are subtle and quick to anger."

I see I'm interrupting dragon talk o__o
Anyways, I want to be an editor or publisher. I'd love to be an author, but that's a really tricky career to be successful in.

Yeah -- I remember reading that something like only the top 5% of authors earn enough to do it for a day job.

Not only that, but it's also extremely hard to get a book published.
Write a book, edit it, edit it again, send out hundreds of queries, then sample pages, then a full manuscript, get taken on by a literary agent, then the literary agent has to pitch it to publishers, then a publisher has to purchase your manuscript THEN your book gets published.
Most literary agents take on 10 people a year, out of tens of thousands of submissions.
... I did research

Re: Jobs?
An author would be awesome if you were a successful one... maybe you could do it on the side?

Re: Jobs?
Cheer, you sound more qualified than most people who say they want to be writers.
The best piece of advice I ever read on the subject: If you want to be a writer, then write.
First and foremost, you focus on writing . . . whatever it is you want to write. When it's finished, then you can start the rereading and editing process. Before that, try not to worry about the hard work that awaits. Let yourself enjoy the creative flow.
