Studying in a quiet room for the first thing.
You could repeatedly write the formulas on a piece of paper, repeat it on your head, make rhymes or songs.

Writing the formulas out is good, but you should also know how to apply and use the formulas, let's say if these formulas are for math you should do math equations that require you to use these formulas so you know how to apply them.

Stay away from your computer :o
Study only an hour a day, so you don't overload yourself with too much information, and go over everything you studied before bed.

Stay away from:
People (like family and friends, not like your tutor, if you have one ),
Computers,
Television,
and Music (it distracts me the most)
Clear your head, get a snack, like oreos, or crackers, maybe some fruits, and nibble on them.
Sit comfortably, but not in a way, where you can't write.
Write down the formulas, repeat them, it's pretty fun to make a song or something on them, UNDERSTAND them, ask an elder (after you have studied the formulas properly) to give you some sums, like a test.
And like Cheer said, don't study too much, and take breaks in between
