I have heard of the book, and I know what it's about, but I haven't read it! I really want to read it!

Re: Where the red fern grows
This is one of my all time favorite books! I love to follow Dan, Ann and Billy's adventures through the Ozark mountains. Even after reading it to my class every year for 10 years or more, I still get choked up at the end.

We read that book in school 2 years ago!
However, I didn't get to read it cause,
I'd just arrived at that school when they finished the book

Re: Where the red fern grows
My 5th grade teacher read this book to us.
It was a great way to get us to pack up, tidy up,
and "button up" at the end of the day. We were
always eager for the story and this one is one that really
draws you deeply into the experience of the characters.

Re: Where the red fern grows
When I was in sixth grade, I too had to read this book as a summer reading and when I finished reading I couldn't help but shred a few tears. I hardly ever cry when it comes to book, but the author Wilson Rawls was just so deep at the end and the bond between the two dogs and Billy was just so strong that was impossible to hold in the sad feeling. I thought it was a great book and I still admire it. =]

I have recently read it, but a short version at school.
From what I have read, it is sad, yet the main character shows a lot of courage, bravery, and determination.

I agree. This is exactly what I was thinking. You see that glory and victory aren't the only thing accomplished in this story. I really liked the ending.
