How do I make a picture transparent? I'm trying to add my babv character onto a background and the white background is covering the background I wanted. I use Paint.net

Here are the steps for Paint.NET:
1. Go to the Gradient Tool
Picture Transparent Step110
2. Switch it to Transparency Mode
Picture Transparent Step210
Picture Transparent Step310
3. Make sure BOTH dots are off to the side of the picture, and make sure the white part is in covered in a grid of white and grey dots!
Picture Transparent Step410
WA LA!! Add text, add a picture of whatever! There you have your transparent background!

if you want a background just use a wand make it transparent (make sure it doesn't cover your character) so use the tolerance thing and then save the picture go to your background click layers (at the top) import from file
and wal la!

Hmmm...I'm a bit confused because well a transparent background has nothing...And you still want your purple background...

Oh I'm sorry, I'm not good at explaining things x] I wanted to make a picture like your avatar. Like with a different background and not a transparent one. But I said transparent because I wanted to know how to make my babv character picture without a background. Does that make sense?

do you mean like my avatar? you just get rid of all the background on your babv character(by making the background transparent) get your background and copy your babv character. then go into the edit tab on the top(in your babv pic) and click paste into new layer. Make sure your BABV character is the top layer!

It still won't work. I got my babv character on top of the background and when I tried to save it, the background was just white..
