Mystery solved! Today I sent an email to vwhelp asking about the 8th day prize and a few hours later, I got a response!

Hi there!

The hidden surprise on the 8th of the month was a special event planned
for 2008. Each year we like to keep the site fresh and new so there is
always something exciting and different happening. This year, there will
be lots of other giveaways and fun things happening in Build-A-Bearville,
but not specific to the 8th or 9th of the month.

Don’️t forget that playing the Furtastic Fountain is a chance to win a
different and cool prize each day with new sets of prizes each month too!
