Should Pluto be a planet again?
Pluto Not A Planet Anymore?
Pluto Not A Planet Anymore?
Pluto was poor
Pluto was sore
No people didn't even like him
Anymore
Did he do something wrong?
It wasn't quite strong
This would take very long
Did he even try to orbit around a moon?
Was he trying to be the color, maroon?
Was he floating to find a balloon?
Then why is Pluto not a planet anymore?
What really happened to Pluto:
In 2006,Space Scientists decided to make Pluto not a planet anymore. It looked like a circle to most people but the scientists thought it was really kind of an oval shape. It doesn't have it's own orbit. It shares it with Neptune. This s the reason why Pluto is not a planet anymore.

Excellent poem you started out with there Blue. I agree with you. Pluto has been the center of a controversial topic. So many believe that because of its small size and far away distance, it doesn't deserve to be a planet which I believe is wrong. Even though it may share its orbit and is an oval unlike most of them, doesn't mean it can't be different and should be judged out. I sure would love the campaign against this. Excellent thread, Blue! =]

Re: Pluto Not A Planet Anymore?
Certainly nice to know! :melikey:
From National Geographic:
According to the new definition, a full-fledged planet is an object that orbits the sun and is large enough to have become round due to the force of its own gravity. In addition, a planet has to dominate the neighborhood around its orbit.
Pluto has been demoted because it does not dominate its neighborhood. Charon, its large "moon," is only about half the size of Pluto, while all the true planets are far larger than their moons.
In addition, bodies that dominate their neighborhoods, "sweep up" asteroids, comets, and other debris, clearing a path along their orbits. By contrast, Pluto's orbit is somewhat untidy.

Re: Pluto Not A Planet Anymore?
It's a dwarf planet because to be a planet it can interfere with any other planet's orbit (I think that's the word.) Usually Pluto is the ninth planet but some years it is the eight and Neptune is the ninth
I still like to think of it as a planet though
I am actually learning about planets now in science Our teacher explained this to us It's quite interesting

Trust me, I have nothing against Pluto. But it's a "dwarf" planet..and well it can just be a moon or a crater or whatever. I don't think it could be a planet.
